Walton saw the racing debut of the 'Thames Cup VIII' albeit with Steve Tassell out of the 4-seat due to illness. The crew entered the Senior 2 event and went through the first round, taking Walbrook Rowing Club from the start and leading by a length and a half to the finish. In a somewhat closer final, the Cardinals finally gave in to Curlew Rowing Club's winter training and lost by a length in the fastest race of the day.
